PADI Members Worldwide Rally For Positive Ocean Change on Women’s Dive Day 2023
July 25, 2023The 9th edition of the PADI Women’s Dive Day occurred on July 15, 2023, as members worldwide organized local events for their communities. PADI® Women’s Dive Day has become the most renowned diving day globally, transforming lives and providing access to the underwater world. For nine consecutive years, the diving community has united to encourage people of all genders, ages, races, backgrounds, and abilities to confidently explore and preserve the ocean.
Since the inception of PADI Women’s Dive Day, events worldwide have emphasized the crucial connection between diversity, inclusivity, and environmentalism. This year’s event specifically aimed to promote local action for global impact.
Kristin Valette Wirth, Chief Brand and Membership Officer for PADI Worldwide, expressed admiration for PADI members who have championed this annual celebration for almost a decade. She commended their efforts in organizing events that bring local communities together, foster diversity, and take meaningful steps to preserve our shared blue planet.
Thousands of divers and Ocean Torchbearers™ enthusiastically participated in this year’s celebration through various activities. These included Dive Against Debris® initiatives, beach clean-ups, pre-diving yoga sessions, and thrilling underwater adventures.
Ingrid van Gerven, owner of PADI Dive Center Dive InC in the Netherlands, highlighted that PADI Women’s Dive Day has evolved into an event that celebrates all divers, regardless of gender, background, or age. It has also raised awareness about the necessity of protecting our beloved waters.
Joane Esterhuizen, manager of PADI Five Star Dive Center Meridian Adventure Dive, shared how PADI Women’s Dive Day has brought the Waisai community closer together and increased awareness about ocean conservation. The event has become highly anticipated by the community, attracting both first-time and experienced divers, and emphasizing the importance of community and awareness.
Looking ahead, the 10th Annual PADI Women’s Dive Day is scheduled for next year. PADI calls upon the 6,600 PADI Dive Centers in 184 countries to once again unite their local communities and join forces with PADI in creating positive change for our oceans.
