Sabah to Host ADEX Ocean Partnership Summit 2023, 18 – 20 August, Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC)

The ADEX Ocean Partnership Summit 2023, a successor to the Asia Dive Expo (ADEX), will be hosted by Sabah in collaboration with the Sabah Tourism Board. The previous ADEX took place in Singapore at the Sands Expo and Convention Centre from 31 March to 2 April, 2023. The upcoming summit will align with the United Nations’ proclamation for the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development from 2021 to 2030. It is scheduled to be held at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) in Sabah, Malaysia, from 18 to 20 August, 2023.

The summit will bring together experts and pioneers from around the world to discuss and explore various diving disciplines, ocean conservation, and sustainability issues. It will also provide networking opportunities with industry peers and stakeholders in the hospitality, conservation, and education sectors. The event is expected to attract international countries and buyers, facilitating global networking and business prospects.

This platform will be instrumental in leveraging knowledge and expertise, becoming a catalyst for conservation and education, fostering sustainable partnerships, and establishing brands that contribute to the development of a sustainable blue economy.

In conjunction with the ADEX Sabah Ocean Partnership Summit 2023, an initiative will be launched to actively address ocean pollution. A team led by ADEX Ambassador for Ghost Net Hunters, Hidy Yu, and Guinness World Record Holder and swimmer, Ben Lecomte, along with scuba divers, volunteers, and environmental organizations, will spend 23 hours removing plastics, ghost nets, debris, and other pollutants from the waters surrounding the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) on 20 August 2023.

Furthermore, the SICC will host the ADEX Sabah Mermaid Competition 2023, providing mermaid enthusiasts from around the world with a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and grace. The competition will be judged live by esteemed freediving representatives and fellow mermaids.
