Anthony’s Key Resort World Oceans Day Dive and Update on RIMS Activities
September 2, 2023
In 1989, the Roatan Institute for Marine Sciences (RIMS) was established by Anthony’s Key Resort. RIMS has been a leader in marine research and reef conservation in the region, attracting colleges, universities, and high schools for the study of tropical marine ecosystems and bottlenose dolphins. |
This year’s World Oceans Day was a special occasion at Anthony’s Key Resort. Students had the incredible opportunity to dive alongside Jen Keck, Marine Biologist and RIMS Education Coordinator, to actively participate in marine conservation by planting baby corals on a nearby reef. Watch the linked video below to witness their hands-on efforts! |
RIMS representatives also participated in the inaugural National Ocean Fair in Tegucigalpa, the capital city of Honduras. This gave us the opportunity to showcase our efforts in preserving Roatan’s coral reefs and promote the significance of sustainable tourism on the island. |
