Missing Portland diver – body found
September 2, 2023A missing diver, believed to be in his 40s and from Hampshire, was the subject of a major air and sea search yesterday (28 August) off the coast of Portland. Tragically, a body has now been recovered from the sea, prompting the search operation to be called off. The man’s next of kin have been notified and the coroner has been informed.
The search operation involved all-weather lifeboats from RNLI stations in Exmouth, Weymouth, and Swanage, along with Coastguard helicopters and other vessels. The extensive search took place approximately five miles south of Portland Bill.
