The liveaboard named Honeydew, formerly known as Valkyrie in the Orkney Islands, ran aground on rocks near the entrance to Loch Sunart. The incident occurred on Monday (4 September) and prompted the Tobermory RNLI lifeboat and two fish farm boats to come to its aid. With the tide falling rapidly, one of the work boats transferred 11 divers to the lifeboat, while another returned to help the liveaboard crew set the anchor and secure the vessel. The lifeboat and work boats later returned to refloat the Honeydew on the rising tide. After ensuring there was no damage, the Honeydew made its way back to Tobermory with the lifeboat escorting. Owner Sarah Chan expressed gratitude to the Tobermory RNLI Lifeboat, Mowi Scotland’s Beinn Mor, Sarah Ann, and their crew for their assistance, as well as other boats including the Compass Rose. Sarah also commended her guests for their calmness and cooperation throughout the ordeal. Lifeboat coxswain David McHaffie thanked all vessels that offered help during the rescue.
