Hyundai Motor America has formed a collaboration with non-profit organizations Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving USA to support their ocean conservation efforts in southern California. The partnership aims to clean the oceans and retrieve fishing nets that contribute to marine pollution. The collected nylon waste, including fishing nets, is transformed into ECONYL, a regenerated nylon yarn used to create new textile products. In addition, the organizations will host beach clean-up events throughout California in 2024. This partnership aligns with Hyundai’s commitment to sustainability and its goal of contributing to a circular economy and sustainable marine ecosystems. The CEO of Hyundai Motor America, Randy Parker, emphasized the company’s dedication to protecting the oceans and creating a more sustainable future. The collaboration with Healthy Seas and Ghost Diving USA expands on Hyundai’s eco-initiatives, including partnerships with One Tree Planted and the IONIQ Forest project. The partnership between Hyundai Motor Europe and Healthy Seas began in 2021 and expanded to South Korea in 2022.
